First Annual Opera Dogs

Who: iRhine wants to help kick off this season of the Cincinnati Opera by inviting all dogs and their owners near and far to participate in the city?s first ever Opera Dogs. There will be three local judges The Cincinnati Opera's Tom Smith, P&G's Robert Killins, and Vice Mayor Jim Tarbell.
What: First annual Opera Dogs will be held in Washington Park in Cincinnati?s historic Over-the-Rhine. Participating dogs will compete on two levels: Best Opera Costume and Best Dogpera Singer. First, Second and Third place prizes will be awarded to the winning canines and their owners. The first 200 participants will receive a Doggie Bag filled with fun items for their pets for registering their dogs in the contests. The event will end with a magnificent dog parade starting from Washington Park, heading down Twelfth Street over to Main Street where the fun continues with Second Sunday on Main street-market! Dog owners will be able to show off their dogs and enjoy getting pictures taken with their canine stars! Folks will also enjoy the music of Jake Speed and The Freddies and the Main Street marketplace featuring a variety of vendors dealing in art, antiques, and retail of all kind.
When: Sunday June 11, 2006 11:30a.m until 2:00p.m. (2:00p.m. begins the dog parade).
Registration: 11:30a.m.
Registration is FREE and starts at 11:30a.m. sharp! Please arrive early to ensure your dog?s registration. Registration will end promptly at 12:30p.m.Dog Singing Contest: 1:00p.m
Dog Parade will start at 2:00p.m.
Where: Historic Washington Park in Cincinnati?s Over-the-Rhine
From 12th Street to 14th Street between Elm Street and Race Street. Parking available at Vine Street and Central Parkway or on surrounding side streets. Remember you do not have to pay parking meters on Sunday.
Why: To celebrate dogs and their owners, the arts, the Opera and Over-the-Rhine in an effort to bring people together from diverse backgrounds and strengthen the community.
