 The Urbanists say beshert! A yiddish term roughly meaning "it magically happens when people connect," beshert is the Urbanist answer to the most common civic question: "How will we repopulate and revitalize our Center City?" Because this concept must be experienced to be understood, the Urbanists present world renowned community building consultant Peter Block on September 10, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the Guilford Institute (directions below). Peter will literally shake-up our typical meeting so that we get out of the paternalistic presenter-audience format and instead experience community engagement. Please read the attached bio and paper and you'll see why this "meeting" will be such an energizing gift to our community. Because of room constraints we have a limit of 175 people, so we must ask that anyone wishing to attend must RSVP as soon as possible and no later than September 9th at Noon. For security reasons, Western Southern asks that we refuse admittance to anyone not on the RSVP list. Right now we aren't sure about refreshments, so please plan accordingly (though we hope to have something available). We hope to see everyone on September 10th. THE URBANISTS From the downtown area, take Fifth Street east to the very end, staying in the right lane once you pass the intersection of Fifth & Broadway. At the next traffic light, turn right onto Pike Street, stay in the left lane but at the "fork" go the the right which will curve around to Fourth Street. Shortly after you turn onto Fourth Street, and before the next traffic light which is Fourth & Broadway, look for the Guilford Building on the left (immediately past the statue of Abraham Lincoln at Lytle Park).
YOU CAN PARK IN THE WESTERN & SOUTHERN FINANCIAL GROUP'S BROADWAY PARKING GARAGE The entrance to the Broadway Garage is accessed from Broadway between third and fourth streets. Broadway runs both north and south in that block. You can take Third Street (West only) and go North on Broadway, turning right into the garage entrance. Or take Fourth Street (West only) and go South on Broadway, turning left into the garage. From Fifth Street (East only) you can turn right onto Broadway then left into the garage entrance after passing fourth street. WALKING DIRECTIONS TO THE GUILFORD BUILDING FROM THE W.S. BROADWAY GARAGE From the garage, proceed to Broadway. Turn right (head north) on Broadway to Fourth Street. The Guilford Building is located at 421 East Fourth Street just east of the University Club (on the right side of the road). You enter the building using the door nearest the University Club. The front door is open from 7:45 am to 5:00 pm. Visitors are required to sign in with security guard and wear visitor's badge at all times. Call extension 1034 or ask the guard to give you elevator access to the Second Floor.
